issue currently in the making.
it creates opportunities for the aspiring writers and artists of the North-East. As ever we’ve tried to build a platform for rising talent and publish individuals whose work deserves to be admired.
here are its editions, 1-5
1. The first issue of Novel Magazine launched in incredible style from The Biscuit Factory on Thursday 24th February. Composed entirely from the creative contributions of local writers and artists, issue one contains a myriad of charming prose, witty articles and visually striking artwork. We have cherry picked the best of what you had to offer and man alive are you going to love it! So it begins…
2. This issue is all about unique approaches to narrative, a theme which has prompted you, our readers and contributors, to send in the most fascinating array of submissions, which we have cherry-picked, compiled, designed and delivered back to you. In this issue you will read commentary on contemporary art exhibitions with unique approaches to narrative, you will find journalism that examines unique approaches to narrative and you can even enjoy a short-story which demonstrates a unique approach to narrative, not to mention a poet examining and demonstrating unique narrative forms.
3. this issue documents and reports on some of the most subversive aspects, characters and problems in our society. We bring you drug-addiction, Raoul Moat, Verbal Terrorism in the form of anti-establishment hip-hop lyrics; we question whether graffiti is vandalism or public art in its purest form and take a look at a temple of hedonism.
Novel is proud to give sub-cultures their platform and to continue outputting material that no other magazine in the region is publishing. We receive no help or funding and continue to duck our phone bills and council tax for as long as possible to give you a magazine we hope you love as much as we do.
4. summer months are ripe for travel and finding the time to get round to those tasks that you have procrastinated on for so long, we thought ‘exploration and innovation’ was an apt theme.
