Melissa Tampin- BA (Hons) Creative Practice
statement of intent
1: As part of the course, you
will manage a negotiated project based on a creative opportunity within your
chosen area. This opportunity will be based on and identified through research
into either a commercial, economic or social issue. Please expand on how you
intend to realise this in your third year.
2: Each creative sector is different, so is the way you interact
with it. You may encounter any of the following opportunities; employment,
self-employment, residency, commission, freelance work, internship, a staged
exhibition, performance art, or work placement. Identify areas where you feel
your work has relevance and the direction it may take.
I will focus my concentration in to the commercial
practice of graphic design on high street fashion shops.
- This will be done with promotional designs such as:-
- · point of sale
- · packaging
- · advertising-posters,leaflets
- · magazines
- · branding
- · website redesign
- this can also lead in to designs for window graphics, t-shirt graphics, and merchandising
This type of
design is something that is always in demand and is being used to help sell
their brand or label in fashion.
Using art
direction with graphics and illustration is something that has recently grown
and became trendy, shops such as top shop and river island are some to name.
Designs currently
done in a trendy, illustrative, done to tailor its target audience.
I would like to adopt
this approach to my designs
I will look for
work placements to gain experience from the industry working in this area of design
to allow me to get up close and personal with current design agencies, seeing
how they work, getting involved with their projects, seeing professional
designers work and aswell making links.
Companies such as
electric sheep will give me experience and work in the same type work in the
design sector.
I will also work
freelance, taking on projects myself, seeking potential opportunities and
building a bigger and range of designs for my portfolio.
